PET Scanning: A Powerful Tool for Diagnosis
PET scans (or Positron Emission Tomography) provide a cross-sectional image of the body’s function, rather than just its structure. PET images can reveal important information about many conditions affecting the heart, brain, and other organs—from the existence of cancer to the diagnosis of Alzheimer’s onset.
